The Big Switch-a-Roo

So you know how T agreed to buy the treadmill? Well that was only the beginning, of what has become the "never-ending-move-things-around-in-the-house-until-we-have-changed-every-room" debacle.

You see, deciding to get the treadmill was actually the easy part. Figuring out where to put it while keeping my pretty house pretty has been an entirely different issue. Here are my narrow parameters:

Treadmill must preferrably:

1. Be in front of a TV (preferrably with DVR)

2. Not be in a totally awkward spot (aka, next to the dining room table or in the middle of the foyer)

3. Be next to the ellipitical so T and I can workout together

4. On a separate floor from T's desk, so I can listen to loud music while running and it doesn't interfere with his studying

Right now we have two tvs, one in the living room and one in the bedroom. We use both regularly, but there's no room in the master for the treadmill and that's just not very romantic.

It's possible that the treadmill could go in the living room, but we like to entertain and it would take up a huge amount of space (and doesn't really address #s 2, 3, or 4)

It seems like the best place for the treadmill is in the "loft" area next to the ellipitcal.

However, this is also currently Taylor's study area & the room is packed full as it is. Plus no tv. But moving Taylor's study area & a tv still seems much easier than trying to move the 300 pound ellipitcal anywhere else in the house. Plus it'd be fun to have a mini-gym room that's not primarily used for something else.

We do have a small tv (like 20") that we can use for the room. Our plan is to move the downstairs cable box upstairs to the gym area, but we can easily move it back downstairs if we want to watch tv (which we rarely do in the living room).

T is actually going to give up his desk (which we'll sell on Craigslist, along with the shelves) and move to the built in desk downstairs that I'm currently using.

That way, the DVR and workout area will both be upstairs, which leaves him with some piece and quiet. The only problem left is now that I've given up my desk, I have no where for my office space! Since I'm not in school anymore, I don't need a lot of space, but I do need somewhere for my computer and office supplies. Especially since I plan on buying a new desktop computer in the spring when my laptop gives out.

That being said, I still don't really know where this new desk area for me is going to go. That will require some brainstorming on another day. Until then, I'll be desk shopping online...right now I'm loving this beautiful desk...

Those plans sound awesome. From reading your blog, it seems like you guys are awesome at compromise. Also, I'm super jealous that you are going to have both an elliptical and a treadmill at home! I don't care so much for the treadmill, but I love ellipticals haha.
